About UsCurbside Kitchen is a gourmet mobile food truck based out of San Pablo, CA.
We offer Filipino inspired gourmet, with hints of Latin and Southeast Asian flair, served up the good ol' American way. Established in November 2015, and currently serving West Contra Costa County and surrounding area. |
Who We Are |
We are the brothers, Russell and Raynard Lozano.
Chef Russell, a product of Contra Costa College's culinary program, has been cooking professionally throughout the Bay Area for over 8 years now. Trained in contemporary American cuisine, yet guided by his adventurous appetite, Russell combines his favorite flavors from his own culture, community, travels, and many years in the kitchen into a refined and impressive offering.
Raynard, the manager and a UC Berkeley and AmeriCorps alum, has a track record of community development, microfinance, and nonprofit work. Although less seasoned in the culinary field, he possesses the passion and appreciation for good grub. Raynard inhabits the other realm of mobile foods - outreach, planning, accounting, marketing, sales, and development - behind the scenes. |
Our History |
From an early age, we've always had a fascination for food - whether it was watching Emeril's unique combination of mouth watering entertainment cooking on Food Network or attempting our own Iron Chef competitions. We ate anything and everything; and were consequently given names like "Trash Compactor" and "Blackhole" for finishing everything at the table. It was, and always will be, simply about stuffing our faces full of goodness!
We both graduated from college in Spring 2012, not knowing exactly where our paths were heading towards. What we had was a desire - a means to create and spread our love for food. OUR food, unbounded by the interests and influences of distanced restaurant owners and corporations. Coming together was a seamless, natural progression. After bouncing ideas and possibilities around that summer, we decided to form a partnership and haven't looked back since. Passion, vision, execution, a whole lot of support, and years of patience, ingenuity, and hard work all brought us to now - to the Curbside Kitchen. |
Our Mission |
Throughout the first month of operation, we struggled to find our identity - toeing the line between a fusion of Filipino, Vietnamese, Cuban, Brazilian, Mexican, American, and everything in between. A con-fusion! (thank you J.F.) But when describing our product, whether consciously or subconsciously, every conversation always boils back down to our youth, our culture and upbringing. We were born in a traditional Filipino household and raised in a very diverse environment, among all walks of life. We're proud of who we are and where we came from - we operate in our hometown! The Curbside Kitchen menu is a reflection of our past and present - a product of what we love to eat. We take the Filipino dishes we grew up with and combine them with the wealth of cultural diversity from our community, without compromising the traditional Filipino flavor. Our mission is to share our experience of being Filipino-American, to spread our culture in a way that anybody can appreciate: in the form of delicious, delicious food. |
